Pave Ring Setting: The Best Choice

The word pave comes from the French word pavé, meaning paved, and this is how the tiny diamond clusters appear on a pave ring – like a sparkly paved cobblestone road. Many tiny diamonds are set in small holes in rows along the ring shank, with the objective being to place as many diamonds as possible on the surface, thus creating a beautiful shimmer effect. Some of the most impressive pave rings cover a large surface area, creating a maximum shimmer and sparkle effect.

Once the diamonds are set, tiny beads of gold or platinum are used to secure the diamonds in place, making this ring setting an extremely robust and hard wearing choice. The pave ring setting is often seen in antique style jewellery.

The appearance of a pave ring setting is quite distinctive; it looks almost like the jewelry has been rolled in gemstones. The setting may also be combined with other types of setting, such as a ribbon of pave set diamonds paired with a bezel set solitaire which is larger than the surrounding stones. Any gemstone can be utilized in a pave ring setting, but the style of the setting promotes the play of light through the stone, so translucent stones like emeralds, rubies, diamonds, and topaz are especially suitable.

A pave ring setting is literally encrusted with diamonds or other gemstones along its surface. The glitter and extravagance of these elite settings is very attractive, and couples have many different pave options to choose from.

Full Pave Settings. These settings have diamonds completely encircling the ring and are a popular choice for eternity rings.

Partial Pave Settings. A more affordable option, these rings only use pave diamonds along the top of the band or partway around the circumference.

Multi-Line Pave Settings. These settings are more intricate and use multiple rows of stones to cover the ring’s band.

Micro Pave Rings. These rings use the smallest stones to create a glittery surface where the sparkle is more visible than the stones themselves.

Invisible Settings. These pave designs use stones that fit tightly together so no hint of metal is visible.

For an engagement ring, a pave ring setting incorporates a larger central stone above the encrusted diamonds, typically in a high tiffany setting. Round and princess are the most frequent shapes for center stones because the remainder of the setting adds sufficient brilliance to the ring without needing a fancier center stone. In some cases, the center stone may be a colored diamond or other gemstone that is heightened by its glittering surroundings. While most center stones are also set with prongs, bezel settings are also popular because they highlight the stone away from the setting. A diamond pave ring can be the ultimate expression of luxury and elegance, and is guaranteed to impress the loved one in your life.
